Curvalicious challenge

The Island Batik Ambassadors challenge for June was to piece with curved lines. I've done a quilt like that before, so I thought that would be easy. After some struggeling, I found out of the technique. At the end it was really fun. And I find the result interesting and beautiful. The fantastic fabrics are making it even better. I love the "sour apples" series.

My new table runner is 12" x 34", just perfect for my table. And I got some beautiful flower yesterday to go with the runner. And I've also quilted flowers on the runner with Aurifil Thread.

Another hundred hexies this week, and a bit easier to see where they are. Just now my inspiration, the baneberries are blooming. Can you see that I've kept to my inspiration through the whole quilt? Tonight is the lightest evening in the year. Not bad that we almost have the midnight sun here, the picture is taken a quarter past eleven tonight. We should have had a bit higher temperatures, though.

I have to work on this every day to finish it in time for the exhibition. In the beginning I easily saw the difference between every hundred. But is it now possible to see the difference from last week?

I've made another pincushion from selvages, and yesterday a new one dropped in my mailbox. Look at all the fantastic details on this pincushion from Wanda. Thank you so much Wanda!

Elevarbeid

My little sewing friend was here again today. Last time she got stripes of fabric and instructions for log cabin. At home she had made the house, but didn't know how to sew the roof. We did it together, and she quilted and binded it. She chose pink hearts on the binding, a smart and decorative way of doing it.

Even though there are a lot of hexies left to sew before it's finished, I feel that I can see the end of this quilt. I'm happy to show you another hundred this week.

After a couple of days without internet, it's fixed at last. I made some new pincushions from selvages, and the bach side is batik from Island Batik. I really love this fabric, and it's going well with the beautiful rhododendron in my garden just now. The mascots are made by my pupils. Aren't they cute?

Not much sewing on this one the last month. But now it's rolling again, I pass a new hundred tonight and the first corner is completed.

In my garden - A modern batik challenge

As an Island Batik Ambassador the challenge for May was to make a modern quilt. I'm not sure what a modern quilt is, but I didn't want to make ordinary blocks for this quilt. The result at least showcase the beautiful Island Batik fabrics coming to your local shops soon. And I'm really in love with those fruit fabrics. They come in many different colours.

The size of my quilt is 36" x 40", and I'm going to hang it on the wall. I quilted it with Superior Thread in two different colours.

Show and Tell in Gummersbach

A week ago we had the La Passion Quiltmeeting. The first day we had a "show and tell" with some of the other things we have made. Here some pictures so you may enjoy some of the things we were shown this evening.

Many different ways of organizing the hexies.
